Robert Greathouse, 93, finally received his Associate of Technical Studies degree from the University of Akron, a degree he never anticipated getting, although he took all the required classes at the University of Akron after serving in Korea as an aircraft mechanic some 65 years before. Robert took engineering classes over the years to get better jobs, and it worked! He had a successful career, from being an electronics technician to designing test equipment for products ranging from generators to hydraulic equipment to aircraft control systems. Robert’s youngest daughter was inspired to look into her Dad’s educational history. That set the wheels in motion, leading to his being awarded his degree – one he had actually earned years ago after completing all the requisite credits! Who knew?
